The Gypsy Dance: Cigane Harikulia
She looks lovely and she plays beautifully, and everybody is happy. As long as everyone keeps happy, it’s alright! Nicholas thinks half-a-dozen friends are there listening to her music. Her name is Holly.
It is autumn, because there are leaves on the ground and on her seat. She has black hair and she’s wearing purple/blue tights. The seat has room for six people—very nice indeed!
Gong, gong, bom, bom, bom—Holly plays the guitar pretty well. Stanley sings us this song: “I belong to Glasglow, dear old Glasgow Town. Well, what’s the matter with Glasgow, For it’s goin’ ’roon and ’roon”!
Holly often comes to play on this bench. She has a family—a husband and children—all of those. Everybody is hungry for money, and Holly gets money to feed the kids. No money … no tucker!!
The leaves are two different colours: yellow and gold like a banana, and orange. Holly’s shoes are purple/blue to match her purple socks. Her guitar is green and colourful. Holly’s face shows how much she is enjoying playing.
We can hear people singing to the music. Holly makes beautiful music and everybody is very happy. A lady came and gave her her shoes, which have white stripes on them.
After Holly finishes playing, people come and kiss her. They’re very happy and they all dance the Charleston! Holly sings: “Don’t cry for me Argentina”. Everyone’s happy!
