Sad Sack
“You want them all wet?”
He’s shining his shoes.
They’re in a mall.
Lots of seats to be taken.
A lot of people at the mall, must be popular.
We have a smoker. His name is Joseph O’Riley. He looks Italian.
He’s a patient man.
He looks grouchy.
He looks sad.
He’s a business man.
Business is bad in the mall.
He’s losing his business.
And his hair.
His wife left him.
He’s overactive, never home.
He left for another woman.
She kicked him out for his affairs.
She’s had it.
Didn’t get a suitcase, she gave him garbage bags.
He has trash bags, not luggage.
He picks up stuff that people don’t want.
He sells it.
He’s a sad sack.
Naomi.
(His wife.)
She wants to start her own business:
Celebrity.
A travel agency.
It’s a nice business.
(We ended our story telling by talking about where we’d travel if we were Naomi. Irma said Europe. Jean chose Florida, but only if it’s winter. Josephine thought she might go out and get a job instead of travel; but changed her mind and chose a beach out west. Flo is headed for the Virgin Islands. Czechoslovakia is where Rose would go. Elaine is an experienced traveler, and Germany is her preferred destination. “Lovey lovey,” said Lydia, approving our itineraries.)
