Playing with Fists
There are 4 boys. Yes, boys! The boys are boxing—it looks like it. They’re playing in the snow, scratching around somewhere to find food. One is named Heralame, and the other boy is Nicholachi. They live next door to Maria in Greece.
They are playing; they look alright. It’s a fight! They might be giving themselves a bit of helpfulness for things around, but when they are told something, they might not do it!
These boys have plenty of family, who are nearby. The boys are not very old. They are just boys playing. They are feeling like roosters! Coo coo ri cooooo!
Whether they win or not depends on their strength and their muscles. You have to put everything into it. Between the 2 boys, they are having a fight. They are looking to see who is going to win.
Elsie thinks there might be sand there, because they have bare feet. You can hear them egging each other on. Sure, it’s hot! The weather was so and so.
They are fighting because there was one cup of honey and Heralame licked the lot, so Nicholachi had no honey to lick.
There is a boy in the background watching. The boys in the background know the 2 boys. They are all friends! They could go somewhere afterwards. It’s getting closer to their family. They’ll find plenty of food. They live nearby and they get home quickly. They never get hungry!
Poor Nicholachi had more honey. The honey came from the English people during the wartime. They gave Greek people honey as a special gift.
We don’t know if they are just sparring or whether they will end the fight. The father’s name is Yanni. The mother is from another village. She has short and crooked legs! The father will come to collect the boys. Nicholachi will be crying. Nick’s wife was there and gave them some water and some food and some everything. They sat down and stopped the fight.
Everything would be beautiful because they were only play-fighting. Maria felt sorry for poor Nicholachi because he was crying very hard. If we go a little bit further, they can please themselves. This is a true story!
