Happy Birthday
The little boy is singing. The man is playing the violin because they’re having a musical. Elsie thinks they might be looking for money. Val thinks they will get money!
They go to different places to play music. The little boy’s name is Jack, and the man is called Jockie. They might be close—one with the other—a young one and an old one. They might be family. We think Jockie is Jack’s father.
They are playing outside a restaurant. By the look of the little boy, he is a good singer. He’s singing “Happy Birthday”! It’s Jack’s birthday. We’re not sure how well Jockie can play though. Elsie doesn’t think they’ll do much good because there’s a lock on the door of the restaurant! So they are playing to passers-by. It must be a busy area.
Jack is like Jerry Lewis. Everybody loves him. He speaks many things and makes everybody happy. He looks exactly like Jerry Lewis. Jack reminds Maria of her grandson. Jack blows out 76 candles on his birthday cake! Helen says: “that’s right”.
Margaret thinks they’ll make lots of money. Then they will go home and have something to eat. They must eat something before they have the cake! The mother and father will help. They’d have a nice party. They’d invite Jack’s best friends, Mum and Dad would be there, and family.
Jack and Jockie probably wouldn’t know how to sing “Hallelujah”. They won’t go out again, they’ve made enough money. Jockie has a brother with a cheese factory where they fix cheese. The brother Adonis made lots of money. Adonis says his mother is Greek, his father is Italian and he is from Siam! He orders “one salad please”! Maria eats lots of cheese, that’s why her teeth are so white!
Mary thinks Jack and Jockie have lots of money because they don’t pay taxes!
