Dancing.
Beautiful! Oh! For goodness sake. Oh God! She is where there are a lot of men, they have got those things they play with their mouths. It’s not in Sydney I hope. Oh! She is having a dance and their playing things at the back. I don’t think she is much of a lady. She’s dancing to it. If she comes with us she might like it. I don’t know where she comes from, is it up our way. He name is Suzie. Yeah. Where do I live. I used to live in Auburn, up there in…I don’t know, damed if I know where do I live. What part of the world is this? If I’d known I would have stayed in the part of Auburn where I live.
She’s dancing I think, I would’nt have a clue – she’s got music but it doesn’t look like it, she might be dancing with somebody. Oh you can’t make them there all close together. I don’t even know them. There’d be a lot of noise, there’s drums and a piano in the background. She looks like some kind of – what do you call those.
It’s in the middle of winter – winter time. They’re playing these things here. I‘d go home with all that noise. They’re actually playing, I don’t know who the blokes are that are playing. They’re probably quite good, probably noisy. She’s dancing to them, that’s all I know. You’d be enjoying it, enjoying the dancing. I’d be sitting watching.
I’d say this was taking place in the First World War, look at her shoes. I could be miles out. The men are playing and this one is dancing, they’ll get on a train and go off to war. They might just walk a couple of miles and stretch to it.
I saw a brother with his sister, they got in a train compartment it was full and they had been drinking. Stupid. She was beautiful. He made a grab for her, didn’t hold on to her, well, she fell between the carriages. She was dead, but I was only nine. I still remember. It was terrible. When the train ran over her, her body was like sand. There was no doctor. It’s not lovely. It was a tragedy. It could be her.
Well this is all dancing isn’t it? It’s dancing!
