Make Up a Story
Stories from Around the World
A Sort of Ballet
It’s a woman—very nice! They have all different kinds of shoes on. They’re probably dancers. They’re dancing.
There are 10 shoes. Half on one side, half on the other. They must be dancing all together. How are they going to do that, Helen wants to know? Nick is going to teach all the dancers how to dance together. It gave him the courage to get in the middle and get them dancing together.
It’s all ladies behind the curtain. Robert’s not sure about that! Their families are watching and plenty of other people are watching.
Somebody made all the dancers’ clothes the same for them. They all have odd shoes and they are dancing together. They’re all doing the same thing—dancing together. You could hear a little noise on the stage.
When the curtain goes up, there would be a big table full of sweets and everyone can come up and enjoy themselves. They go home and have a dip in the water to swim and freshen up. The dancers got sick of one another. They go home and keep quiet and have a bit more time. They’re going home to have a rest.
