A Happy, Wonderful Day & Greetings of the Dogs/A Dog Meets a Friend/The Chase
[The group decided to write two connected stories inspired by two different photos. The photo for the first story is not on this website, but it is well described in the beginning of the story. The second story was inspired by the photo here of the two dogs in the cars. The first story is the scene on the porch near the beginning.]
On a city road with stop lights, a girl named Rosie Mary Alice Glendora Sheila May Cherise (but we’ll call her Rose Mary) sees two dogs in the cars getting acquainted at the stop light. Rose Mary sees them at a distance and falls in love with them. She wants to go up and meet them.
She’s in a chair on the porch in the backyard. There’s something over her right shoulder that looks like a porch. She has a rose in her hand and she’s smelling roses. She’s shrinking her eyes because it smells so good. She’s closing her eyes and smelling her rose and she likes it.
She’s probably about 9 years old. She’s a beautiful African girl and she’s very happy. She’s clutching the rose to her heart. She’s beautifully dressed. She’s wearing overalls. She is a nice girl. She has a nice rose. She has nice hair. “I wouldn’t agree that she’s a nice girl. She looks mischievous.”
It’s Valentine’s Day. Her grandmother gave her the rose, or maybe her mother or her father. He’s been away for awhile and he’s back and it’s a good day for everybody. Or maybe she got the rose from her best girlfriend. Or maybe she must have cut it out of the garden.
She’s very proud. The rose makes her proud and the fact that her grandmother gave it to her. It’s a red rose and Mother’s Day’s coming May 13th so she’s going to give it to her mother. She’ll celebrate her grandmother on Mother’s Day, too.
She’s feeling very good; she’s happy. She feels wonderful.
She looks up again at the dogs on the road getting acquainted at the stop light. She falls in love with them. She wants to go up and meet them. She crosses carefully. God bless that little girl.
“I think they’re in love. Or maybe they’re mother and son; they look very much alike. They look like Yorkshire Terriers.” She heard one dog say to the other, “Where have I seen you before?”
Rose Mary is shouting out to them, standing up to the big one. Rose Mary gets in the car with the small dog, so they can get acquainted.
The small dog is Fluffy or Missy. She’s a three-year-old female. The other one is a puppy named Lucky or Butch or Sam. No, she ain’t no puppy.
The little one jumped out, and the big one jumped out to chase her. Then Rose Mary followed. They’re all running after the dogs. Next thing you know, she got to hug them both and meet the owners. She went home to her porch and her rose.
What happens next is history!
